The 2005/06 season was an eventful one for Wyrley Juniors FC.

On the field we had:

5 League Winners
5 League Runners Up
8 Cup Winners
11 Cup Runners Up

We had 3 girls teams that won the League and Cup double. The Under 11s and 18s boys and ladies teams reached county cup finals. The Under 18s reached the Buller Cup Final at Bescot Stadium, Walsall FC. The Mens team reached the final of the JW Hunt Charity Cup at Molineux, Wolverhamptom Wanderers in their debut season. Real success was 500 young people playing in the black and white stripes of Wylrey Junior.

Off the field the highlights were:

In October the Club completed a 50 year lease over land at Long Lane, Essington upon which a Community Clubhouse, 6 changing rooms and 3 pitches will be developed. In March the Club reached agreement with Harrisons Club to take a 30 year lease over land at Hazel Lane, Great Wyrley. We intend to bring this facility back to life. In May and June 6 presentation nights were held to celebrate the playing success of everyone of the the 35 teams. In March we celebrated the anniversary of our formal partnership with Walsall FC. In April we celebrated the anniversary of our formal partnership with Cheslyn Hay Sports College. In January the Club recieved a Community award from Cannock and Rugeley Chronicle
In January the Club recieved the Sports Club award from Walsall MBC. In May the Club hosted its 9th and largest tournament yet, with over 200 teams taking part. In January the Club launched its Buy a Brick Scheme to raise money for the Club House.

Planned for 2006/07:

We are looking to increase the number of teams to nearly 40. We are having a sponsored run at Long Lane on the first weekend in September, when every WJFC player will raise monies for their team and towards the clubhouse. Full details to follow. In early December the Club is sharing a Sportsmans evening with Walsall FC at Bescot Stadium, when Tommy Docherty will be the speaker. Full details to follow. Club meetings will take place every 3rd Monday in the months at 8:30pm at CHWMC. New bumper stickers are being designed and will be available shortly

2004/5 was yet another epic season in the fortunes of Wyrley Juniors FC, in all we had -

 

4 League Winners
7 Runners Up
4 Cup Winners
2 Runners Up
2 County Cup Winners

 

but more importantly 400 players are now taking part under the Wyrley banner. In addition permanent and unique links were made with Walsall FC and Cheslyn Hay Sports College. For 2005/6 we will have an astonishingly 35 teams and 500 players, including an adult and mens team in the West Midlands League and two Ladies teams in the County League. Our Ladies first team play in the Womens FA Cup against Strantford Rangers on September 10th.

The next major events for the club:-

26th August - Signing On Night @ Stadium Suite, Walsall FC

28th August - Fun Day @ Long Lane, Essington. 3pm to celebrate signing of 50 year lease.

We are always looking for new players, teams, managers and volunteers. If you want to join a progressive, friendly and successful club, then WJFC is the club for you.

We are delighted to announce that the club have accepted Walsall Football Club's offer to become one of their official feeder clubs. Out of the deal, WJFC will recieve coaching support, tickets for home games, recognition on their website and advice on pitch care. WJFC will signpost players of promise to Walsall.
