Harrisons Ground upgrade

We are doing our best to upgrade the facilities at Harrisons Ground, Hazel Lane, Great Wyrley where we have a 25 year lease in place, with 7 of our teams playing there. Approximately 20 years ago, the site had changing rooms with showers, spectator stands down two sides and an illiminated training area – we are trying to bring the site back to life.
We are creating a new car park and have also secured a grant from Sport England for a new mower.
We are now trying to secure the perimeter to stop horses and motor cycles being ridden over the pitch; dogs allowed to roam and leave their ‘calling-card’; vandals spray painting the changing rooms and toilets and youths drinking alcohol and leaving their smashed bottles and cans. All of this clearly puts the health and safety of 120 young boys and girls who play for the club in danger.
To stop some of the above from happening we have secured a grant from O2 Community grants for £750 which will fence off approximately 70 feet of the larger access points to the site and this is happening as I write.
Now for the begging letter! Does anyone have access to more 6 foot or 8 foot galvanised fencing – with or without posts – that could either be surplus to requirments or have been taken from an existing site, to enable us to carry on the good work that has now commenced? If it has been used already we can still use it and we will arrange collection.

HARRISONS WORK DAY

Hi guys the club are having a work day at their ground at Hazel lane in Great Wyrley on Saturday the 1st of August from 9.00am. This to prepare the ground for the up & coming season & to generally improve the facility so that visiting teams leave with a good opinion of Wyrley Juniors of a whole. All help would be appreciated not only from the teams that use the facility but from any of the managers & parents that can spare a little time during the day . We have machines to do the heavy work , i will also bring a barbeque so the workers don’t go hungry . See you all there Shaun

25 Year Lease in Place at Harrisons, Hazel Lane, Gt. Wyrley

The Club is delighted to announce that it has completed the signing of a 25year lease over Harrisons Sports Ground, Hazel Lane, Great Wyrley.

The lease will now enable the Club to bring the ground back to life as it previously held West Midlands Premier League matches there. It also protects the future of 7 Wyrley Juniors’ teams who play there each season.

The first actions will be to secure grant funding to fence off the permiter. Once this is secure, we will then look to develop: -

The car park area

Dug outs serving 2 pitches

Pitch perimeter fencing

Training area

A second mini soccer pitch

Changing rooms

We intend to have a lease handover ceremony shortly and then work hard to get some of the improvements in place for the start of next season.

Now to secure the funding for Long Lane!
