<p>Highlights have been : -</p>
<p>- after 12 years of planning and much hard work, our Long Lane Clubhouse is now up and running, with the pitches to be ready for   next season<br />
- being voted FA Community Club of the Year &#8211; top club nationally!!<br />
- being voted Black Country Club of the Year &#8211; against clubs from every sport<br />
- being voted Walsall Volunteer engaging Organisation of the Year &#8211; again against clubs from every sport<br />
- hosting the FA Cup trophy in November<br />
- starting the season with 45 teams and 2 academies, with over 700 players<br />
- 5 teams top of the table and numerous in a top 3 position<br />
- Our Men&#8217;s First Team in 7th position in West Midlands Regional League Division 1<br />
- our Ladies First team top of the table in West Midlands Regional Ladies League Division 1 North</p>
<p>Plans for 2012 include: -</p>
<p>- a Formal Opening with a high profile guest &#8211; watch this space!<br />
- another quality Annual Tournament planned for 16th and 17th June<br />
- being involved in a number of events planned as the Olympic torch goes past Long Lane on June 30th<br />
- completing plans for our next project &#8211; Harrisons Ground<br />
- growing the number of teams</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Phew &#8211; another successful season has ended with the following the highlights: -</p>
<p>45 teams and 2 Academies &#8211; over 700 players! The largest Club in Staffordshire and probably the West Midlands Region.<br />
Being awarded not only FA Charter Standard Community Club of Year for Staffordshire AND West Midlands Region BUT Nationally &#8211; top Club nationally!<br />
The start and near completion of our 12 year vision &#8211; our Long Lane facility will be completed at the end of August at a cost of £1.15m<br />
3 League Winners, 6 Runners Up, numerous top 3 places, 4 Cup Winners and a County Cup winner and numerous Runners Up. But the clear success, as usual, is getting 700 young (and not so young) people playing football in the black and white of Wyrley.<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We are pleased to report the following Club update as at the mid point in the 2010/11 season: -</p>
<p>- 45 teams now in place, providing football for nearly 700 players<br />
- in our support of Staffs FA diversity policy we have created a Veterans team, 2 Under 8s Girls teams, become a Deaf Friendly club, have attended a Disabled Football Coach day and are supporting the Staffordshire Girls football Week<br />
- we took 27 officials to Wembley in August as we celebrated awards in the Community Awards<br />
- Our First team is at level 7 of the Football pyramid and our Ladies team at Level 5<br />
- We have 5 teams top of their league with another 6 in the top 3<br />
- Our Boys Academy has 44 boys out of over 50 members regularly attending Saturday morning sessions and we will have at least 3 new under 7s teams next season<br />
- our Girls Academy has 12 girls playing and we will create at least 1 new under 10s team next season<br />
- We have already had 1 team approach us to join us from another club next season<br />
- our website has now had over 200,000 hits, 520 members and gets at least 1,000 hits EVERY day<br />
- AND OF COURSE our £1.15m clubhouse at Long Lane is now being built!!!</p>
<p>Plans for the next few months include: -</p>
<p>- finishing touches to our 14th Annual Tournament, which is by far the biggest in the Area<br />
- complete fund raising activities for Long Lane<br />
- Create a Disabled Football Team to complete all offerings for footballers who want to play the game<br />
- Our Goalkeeping Centre is to be launched very shortly</p>
<p>and of course TO COMPETE AND ENJOY!!</p>

Ladies First team finishing 4th and Cup Runners Up at Level 5 of the Football Pyramid</p>
<p>but as usual, our great success was having 39 teams turning out in the black and white of Wyrley Juniors FC.</p>
<p>Off the field highlights included: -</p>
<p>The Club being voted Community Club of the Year by Staffordshire FA &#8211; the third time in 6 years.<br />
The Club receiving an heraldic shield from Cheslyn Hay PC for its sporting achievement in the community.<br />
15 players referred to Walsall FC and 5 taken on.<br />
3 very well organised and attended Club Presentation Nights at Walsall FC &#8211; our thanks go to Trevor Smith for booking the venue.<br />
Our best tournament yet &#8211; thanks go to the many, many individuals who helped to put the event on.</p>
<p><em><strong>We had our share of sadness during the year and the Club will continue to remember Liam Keeling.

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Club has reached the season mid point with a record number of 39 teams and 2 successful thriving academies in place.</p>
<p>We currently have 10 teams in the top 3 of their leagues but as usual the clear success is having nearly 700 players in the black and white stripes of Wyrley Juniors. The club is already planning ahead for next season &#8211; any teams looking to join theclub will be very welcome.</p>
<p><strong>Highlights</strong> of the first half include: -</p>
<p>Staffordshire FA awarding us Community Club of the Year for the 3rd time in 6 years<br />
Planning permission received for our development of Long Lane. Our Business Plan for the major chunk of funding is now with the Football Foundation for their consideration.<br />
New mower and fencing at Harrisons Ground.<br />
A thriving and well used website.<br />
The 4 main Club awards presented by families of the trophy donors.</p>
<p>The <strong>sad news</strong> was clearly the death of Liam Keeling, who died from meningitis at the young age of 13. We have a number of events planned to support Meningitis UK and our thoughts are with Andy and Georgina. We also heard of the ill health of ex Vice Chairman Colin Boon and we wish him well in his recovery.</p>

Our 13th annual Tournament is already well into the planning stage and set for 19th and 20th June &#8211; our traditional 3rd weekend in June date.<br />
We intend to send a party of coaches to Africa to coach underprivileged children.<br />
We have bids in for funding to complete the fencing at Harrisons Ground.</p>

<p><strong>A quick summary of achievements so far: -</strong></p>
<p><strong>36 teams all up and running!</strong></p>
<p><strong>The Club won the Regional Norwich Union &#8216;Join Our Team&#8217; Vote for the West Midlands Region, receiving £13,500 towards the Long Lane Development Fund. We received much PR on the back of this including local Radio Stations and Express and Star.</strong></p>
<p><strong>We have referred 5 players to Walsall FC</strong></p>
<p><strong>We had over 40 players attend exProfessional footballer coaching at Great Wyrley High School. We are looking to repeat this at Whitsun Half term.</strong></p>
<p><strong>This website has been revamped &#8211; my personal thanks to Gareth Hardy who has spent much of his unpaid time in updating it. I think you will all agree that the quality of the site puts us ahead of our peers.</strong> <em style="display:none"><a href="http://www.emergingwomenleaders.org/?the_last_sentinel">The Last Sentinel divx</a></em> </p>
<p><strong>We have 5 teams top of their league with 7 in the top 3 &#8211; but the clear success is having 550 playing football in the black and white of Wyrley!</strong></p>

With over 168 teams taking part, this is the largest sporting event in the Chase area and with our many years of experience we are confident that this is the best organised as well as the biggest tournament around!</strong></p>

<p><strong>On the field</strong> </p>
<p>We had league winners from Under 7s, Under 8s, Under 10s Lions, Under 15s Tigers, Under 10s Girls Panthers, Under 14s Girls and Under 15s Girls<br />
We had league runners up from Under 9s Tigers, Under 11s Tigers, Under 12s Cougars, Under 16s Inex, Under 12s Girls Panthers and Ladies<br />
We had Cup winners from Under 8s, Under 10s Tigers, Under 12s Panthers, Under 15s Tigers, Under 10s Girls Panthers, Under 12s Girls Panthers, Under 15s Girls<br />
We had Cup runners up from Under 17s, Under 10s Girls Pumas, Under 14s Girls<br />
We had a County Cup winning team from Under 17s Girls<br />
Again, the true success is having 550 players in the colours of Wyrley Juniors FC!<br />
Our annual tournament attracted 168 teams, 1500 players and 3000 spectators, making it the largest sporting event in the Chase area.</p>
<p><strong>Off the field</strong></p>
<p>We renewed our Community Club Charter status for another 3 years<br />
We held a referees course – creating another 12 referees<br />
We assisted South Staffordshire District Council in hosting 2 schools tournaments for girls<br />
Our Feeder club status to Walsall FC went from strength to strength<br />
We secured additional grant funding for our Long Lane development</p>
<p><strong>The future</strong></p>
<p>· We have created an additional 5 new teams for next season and have only lost 1 – we will have an amazing 36 teams next year, including a Sunday team in the Cannock Chase league. This is the highest number of teams we have had in our history!<br />
· On the 6th August the men’s team will be playing against a Walsall FC X1 at their home ground at Four Ashes, Stafford Road, Four Ashes. Kick off 7.00. Admission £3 for adults and £1 concessions.<br />

<p><strong>Awards</strong></p>
<p>At the clubs Annual General Meeting on Monday 14th July, the following awards were voted upon: -</p>
<p>· The Matt Harrison Memorial Trophy for Team of the Year was awarded to the Under 15s Girls team who won the League and Cup double in the Central Warwickshire League, remaining unbeaten all season and going 38 games unbeaten since March 2007, scoring 213 league goals, conceding only 18 from 26 league games; having 8 players who scored 10 goals or more and winning the Wyrley 7s for the 4th year in succession</p>
<p>· The Walmsley Endeavour Trophy for the team that struggled against adversity was awarded to the Under 10s Girls Panthers, who won the league and Cup double and having to grieve for their manager Stuart Dyson, who sadly passed away after a battle against cancer.</p>
<p>· The Jo Stoddart Memorial Trophy awarded to Clubman of the Year was awarded posthumously to Stuart Dyson in recognition for his efforts for his team and the Club. He will be sadly missed by all at Wyrley Juniors FC</p>
<p>· The Ben Young Memorial Trophy for Player of the Year was shared by Daniel Wilson, who played for 2 under 12s teams during the season, stepping into the breach and playing extremely well for both teams and Rachel Hall, who played for Under 15s Girls, who returned to Wyrley after spending a season at Wolverhampton Wanderers, and coming top goal scorer with 42 goals.</p>
<p>We are looking to present the trophies at the Club’s first monthly meeting of next season at Cheslyn Hay WMC at 8.30 p.m. on September 15th.</p>
