Please see below some of the Club’s Girls Academy for girls aged 5 to 9. We are looking for enthusiastic girls who want to join a very friendly group who are improving week after week.
The girls train at Cannock Cricket & Hockey Club, 6.00 until 7.00 Tuesdays, with coaching carried out by a Level 2 coach.

The very successful girls academy is looking for new enthusiastic girls aged 5, 6, 7 and 8 to join them. Every year for the last 5 years the club has created at least 2 new teams from its academy.

They train at Cannock Cricket & Hockey Club, Tuesdays 6 until 7. Coaching is carried out by a FA Level 2 coach who ensures the emphasis is on fun and player development.

The Girls Academy now has 30 girls on its books and room for more! We have created 2 Under 10s and 2 Under 8s teams from this group of enthusiastic girls for next season.
Girls aged 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 can attend – no experience necessary, just enthusiasm!
The Academy takes place at Landywood School, Holly Lane, Great Wyrley 6 til 7.15 every Tuesday evening.
Coaching is given by 2 Level 2 coaches.

2011 Presentation Nights Format

The details for the format of this year’s Presentation Nights in the Stadium and Bonser Suites at Walsall FC’s Banks’s Stadium have now been finalised.
Entrance is by cash payment at the door – £3 for adults with non player children £1. Every person entering will have their hand stamped as proof of payment, which must be shown when reentering the room. Each team will be allocated 3 tables of 12 seats each for non players. These will be signposted.
Each night has been organised into 2 shifts (see dates and shifts below for details of which night and time each team has been allocated).
Shift 1 starts at 7.30 – players and family need to be in the Suite by 7.15 please.
Shift 2 starts at 8.30 – players and family need to be ready to enter the Suite at 8.15 please. Whilst shift 1 is taking place a penalty shoot out for each team in Shift 2 (except for May 6th night) will be organised on the astro turf adjacent to the Suite, which is available from 7.00 onwards.
As Shift 2 teams are having their trophies presented, Shift 1 players will move to the astro turf for their penalty shoot out and then return to the room at 9.15.
Penalty Shoot-out winners will receive trophies, presented later in the evening.
Players will be sat with their teams in rows in front of the stage.
Player trophies will be laid out for each team by the committee.
Players’ Player and Manager’s Player trophies will be available from me in the week before each night if managers wish to have them engraved. No other trophies will be presented – teams may organise their own team presentation nights to do this.
There will be a bottle raffle – each team to bring a prize. Bottles to be left with security in the entrance lobby.
Swifty will hopefully be present at the Presentation nights and Wyrley Bear will be present at all nights.
There will be a professional photographer on site to take individual and team photos. There will be a disco until 12.00 after the presentation.
Strictly NO food or drink to be taken into the room!

Wyrley Cubs & Kittens enjoy U8s Girls festival

The Club’s latest crop of budding Sue Smiths played at Cannock Cricket & Hockey Club last night in a festival organised by Staffs FA.
13 Wyrley Girls played extremely well and the future is bright for the black and white!!

Julie Bennett gets Level 2!

The Club gives congratulations to Julie Bennett who passed her Level 2 assessment last weekend.
Julie coaches at our Girls only Academy and was part of the Staffs FA mentoring scheme to get more female coaches their Level 2.

New Girls Under 8s Cubs & Kittens

To support the Staffs FA and South Staffs Young Womens League initiative to get more girls into the game, Wyrley’s Under 8s teams played each other in a 5 v 5 friendly at Landywood School today.

The 8s Cubs were made up of Ella Spears, Sophie Busk, Tia Holgate, Danni Macken and Lily Hughes.

The 8s Kittens were made up of Lily Simkin, Sophie Willis, Libby Thornley, Abi Brennan and Nicole Horton.

The game was a very close affair with Kittens running out 5 – 3 winners with all Kittens players on the score sheet and Ella Spears scoring a hat trick for Cubs.

WYRLEY JUNIORS GIRLS HIT THE AIRWAVES!

Wyrley Juniors latest recruitment drive hits the airwaves from today thanks to our very own Keith Hardy and Wolverhampton’s 107.7 The Wolf.

Keith recorded an advert at the station’s city studios this morning with DJ Dicky Dodd to be aired on Wolverhampton’s 107.7 The Wolf radio from today, promoting the Girls’ Academies and teams. The 30 second advert features in “Wolf Action”, the station’s community appeals slot which gives good causes and local groups the opportunity to publicise themselves for free.

The advert will run over the coming weeks to generate further interest in girls’ football and to offer girls from across the city of Wolverhampton even more options to get involved in football, with tailored coaching and a splash of Wyrley magic. This will also promote the work of Wyrley Juniors Football Club to a new audience to offer a new choice to the footballing masses.

6, 7, 8 & 9 year old girls wanted for new teams

The Club currently has within its girls only academy 15 girls who can play in new Under 10s teams next season. We need 2 or 3 more girls, which will enable us to create another team.
The Club is also creating two 4-a-side girls teams for 6 and 7 year olds to play friendlies – Cubs and Kittens! We have 8 girls already but are looking for more to create 3 teams if possible.
