Chasetown Colts 6 v 1 Wyrley Juniors United.

Wyrley came up against a strong and determined Chasetown team as this scoreline would suggest, Louie Parish however maintained his excellent recent goalscoring run for United, with a great strike in the first half . Wyrley did put a few good passing passages of play together in this game but without reward, Tom Peacock was Wyrley man of the match. Wyrley were unlucky to conceed a penalty and the scoreline flattered Chasetown a little but we need to regroup from this result boys and keep working hard to improve.

Dosthill 2 v 2 Wyrley

Wyrley had a better first half than second in this match, leading 1-0 at half time through a good Danni Biggs strike, Wyrley also went close with efforts from Alicia Baker and Chloe Coldicott. The second half was a scrappy one, both teams not finding any particular rhythm, Wyrley’s best spell in this half was the last 10 minutes or so Liz Scoines and Hayley Leese getting more possession for Wyrley. The tireless Abi Hall got Wyrleys second a minute before the end of the game, unluckily for Wyrley, deep into injury time Dosthill managed an equaliser.

U11 Colts back to winning ways

A very windy Sunday morning at Brownhills saw the U11 Colts return to winning ways with a terrific 5-1 win against Shire Oak Panthers. Two goals from Connor Yates and Jake Powers and one from Sam Holdcroft led to a comprehensive win. But well done to all the lads who played an excellent team passing game. Next week we start the new league with games lined up against a few new teams including Brewood, Bentley and Hednesford. Full details can be found on the Walsall Junior League’s website.

MATCH REPORT 22/01/12

WYRLEY JUNIORS UNITED 2 v 5 CHASE ATHLETIC

United played their first game in this year’s shield against a quality and organised Chase Athletic side, however Wyrley more than played their part in this encounter and got off to a terrific start, after weathering some early pressure Wyrley began to get a bit more possession, A hand ball on the edge of the box by an unlucky Chase defender gave Sam Foreman an opportunity to open Wyrley’s account and he duly abliged, slotting his kick just wide of the keepers left hand. A few minutes later, another Foreman free-kick was spilled by the Chase keeper and Tom Peacock followed up well to make it 2-0 to United. Chase raised their game a little from this point on and it must be said took their chances well when they arose, two excellent strikes bringing Chase level just before half time. Chase started the second half brightly and with United under pressure a miscued clearance by Wyrley gave Chase the lead by virtue of an own goal. A further two half chances were snapped up by Chase to run out 5 – 2 winners but there were some good consistant performances from a few Wyrley players today however United’s man of the match was Jack Addison for his excellent play in the United goal.

Yesssssss!! Superb team perforance and 3 deserved points!!! Fantastic winner from Hollie H after an excellent opener from superstar striker Lessi!! Defence were solid as always – Captain Rian and Emily Petit awesome! Scotty upfront frightened ‘em to death and never stopped closing them down all game. Ellie and Lauren – strong and determined at the back ….you wouldn’t wanna fight ‘em!!! Amazing energy from midfielders Demi, Emma, super Keira, Jess and Emma C – kept us pushing forward but always quick to cover to give Cara her quietest game of the season in goal. Last but certainly not least a fantastic debut from Lara May who showed strength and pace and will undoubtedly be a quality player for the rest of the season!

Thought they would beat us did they??? ….. think again!!!!!!!!!!!

Wyrley Panthers U7′s Team of the Month

Well done to the Panthers on winning Team of the Month. Having come close on several occasions the boys have deserved to win the award for the first time in their fledgling careers. Having organised four friendlies when the WJYL had not organised any games the Panthers won all the games convincingly and we look forward to arranging a few more friendlies before the season starts again at the end of the month. Well done lads!!!!

Girls Academy looking for players

Please see below some of the Club’s Girls Academy for girls aged 5 to 9. We are looking for enthusiastic girls who want to join a very friendly group who are improving week after week.
The girls train at Cannock Cricket & Hockey Club, 6.00 until 7.00 Tuesdays, with coaching carried out by a Level 2 coach.
