Walsall Junior Youth League have organised a festival day for mini soccer on 12th June, there will be football for under 7′s and under 8′s who will also collect thier medals after playing. There is also presentations to winners and runners up of under 9,10 and 11 leagues . Under 7′s, under 8,s and runners up or winners must confirm with paul haywood that they are attending on 07805 399458.

Guys, this is your presentations from the league, no league that I know of have held a mini soccer festival like this before with inflatables including human table soccer to make it a funday for the children and if its not well represented by teams may not be run again. Lets make sure that Wyrley teams are not responsible and have a good turn out.

Any questions to paul haywood in the first instance, but I am here to help if needed.

Regards

The details for the format of this year’s Presentation Nights in the Stadium and Bonser Suites at Walsall FC’s Banks’s Stadium have now been finalised.
Entrance is by cash payment at the door – £3 for adults with non player children £1. Every person entering will have their hand stamped as proof of payment, which must be shown when reentering the room. Each team will be allocated 3 tables of 12 seats each for non players. These will be signposted.
Each night has been organised into 2 shifts (see dates and shifts below for details of which night and time each team has been allocated).
Shift 1 starts at 7.30 – players and family need to be in the Suite by 7.15 please.
Shift 2 starts at 8.30 – players and family need to be ready to enter the Suite at 8.15 please. Whilst shift 1 is taking place a penalty shoot out for each team in Shift 2 (except for May 6th night) will be organised on the astro turf adjacent to the Suite, which is available from 7.00 onwards.
As Shift 2 teams are having their trophies presented, Shift 1 players will move to the astro turf for their penalty shoot out and then return to the room at 9.15.
Penalty Shoot-out winners will receive trophies, presented later in the evening.
Players will be sat with their teams in rows in front of the stage.
Player trophies will be laid out for each team by the committee.
Players’ Player and Manager’s Player trophies will be available from me in the week before each night if managers wish to have them engraved. No other trophies will be presented – teams may organise their own team presentation nights to do this.
There will be a bottle raffle – each team to bring a prize. Bottles to be left with security in the entrance lobby.
Swifty will hopefully be present at the Presentation nights and Wyrley Bear will be present at all nights.
There will be a professional photographer on site to take individual and team photos. There will be a disco until 12.00 after the presentation.
Strictly NO food or drink to be taken into the room!

After winning their first match of the day Tigers under 8′s came on feeling confident, but in the first few minutes of the first half there seemed to be lots of play in front of the Tigers goal. This didn’t seem to phase stand in goalkeeper Jack as he made several great saves stopping anything Pelsall Villa Colts kicked his way.

A free kick by Zak couldn’t quite find it’s way into the net but an inspired run by Owen really put Pelsall Villa Colts to the test. Tigers looked confident in the second half of the match as Connor scored. Pelsall Villa Colts were not going to give in easily though & came back with strength & energy finding the back of the net. Owen really seemed to come into his own during this match & deserved the great goal he scored.

A huge well done to JOEL for getting man of the match for his excellent work in defence during both matches.

Wyrley Tigers played Sedgley Scorpions for their first match today.

A corner from Zak caused a flurry of activity with Rees managing to take control of the ball & have a good shot at goal. Unfortunately for Tigers a great save by the Scorpions goalkeeper prevented Tigers from scoring at this time.

Before too long Tigers top goal scorer Elliott made his presence known on the pitch with a great goal.

A good shot on target by the Scorpions saw Tigers goalkeeper Matthew rise to the challenge.

A corner by Scorpions was superbly picked up by Brogan who then continued with the ball for the length of the pitch. Scorpions defence worked hard & thwarted Tigers chance of scoring again.

A penalty awarded to Tigers following a hand ball from Scorpions went slightly high with Brogan hitting the cross bar, Connor almost scored on the rebound but couldn’t quite make it into the net. However Connor was undeterred & found the net.
A huge well done to JOEL for getting man of the match for his excellent work in defence during both matches.

Wyrley Tigers v Brewood Juniors

From kick off both teams sprung into life with dashes for goal at each end of the pitch. Brewood looked to gain the lead when they cleared the Tigers defence and powered the ball at the Tigers goal, however they had underestimated the last line of defence with goalie Thomas making a solid save.

A corner for the Tigers gained the first goal of the match with a long kick from Zak being headed into the goal superstar style by Elliot.

Kick off in the second half and both teams kept up the pace with Brewood scoring. Tigers as usual rose to the challenge with Matthew getting some great touches of the ball, however frenetic play ensued in the oppositions half with Connor winning the ball and looking like Tigers may again score. However Brewoods defence won out and they quickly scored again.

Overall this game was excellently played by both teams & would have done any league team proud!

Wyrley Panters v Sedgley Scorpions

Seemingly back on the pitch within minutes of their first match, Wyrley seemed a little slow to take up the mantle. The scorpions pressured the Tigers until a valiant attempt by the Scorpions at goal was thwarted by Brogan with his decisive save.

Tigers then stepped up to the mark and started pulling out all the stops. Rhys particularly got stuck in until injury forced him off the pitch. As Jack and Owen really stepped up the pace & started to dominate the opposition the first goal of the match came from Tigers striker Elliott.

With the ball back in play the Scorpions made two solid attempts to get past Wyrley’s defence but with Joel’s brick wall defending nothing could touch the Tigers

Several flurries of play ensued with the whole team assisting in setting Elliot up for another goal.

Tigers played Bentley Community. Elliott led the Tigers into the lead by scoring an early goal. A brilliant save by Matthew & some solid defending by Rhys made it impossible for Bentley Community to put anything away. Elliott was on top form as he scored a further 2 goals in the first half taking Tigers. Elliott scored again early in the second half & a long range shot from Zak gave another goal. As another brilliant goal came from Elliott and Owen rifled the ball into the top of the net.

Tigers dominated much of the play against Aldridge Orcas,. With Jack, Rhys & Connor all taking shots just slightly wide of the goal it was inevitable the Tigers were going to score. Zak found the first goal shortly after taking a corner. A goal kick from Aldridge Orcas lead to a great goal by Matthew. Elliott picked up a throw in from Matthew & planted yet another goal in the bottom left hand corner. Brogan held his nerve & put the ball in the top right hand corner after being awarded a penalty & a further goal from Elliott.

Man of the match Elliott Tibbs, well done for scoring 7 goals!!

Some excellent football was played today & it was great to see the boys passing to each other.

What a fantastic start to the season for Wyrley Tigers and an even better start for Jack Chetter who scored in his debut outing. The Tigers found themselves up against some formidable opposition from Tipton Town. With a constant battle from both teams taking firm shots at the goal but to no avail with both defences & goalies ensuring a goalless first half.
Match 2 saw the Tigers up against the newly formed Aldridge Orcas. Though their first league game, they started with an enthusiasm that almost took the Tigers by surprise. Testing Matthew in goal on more than one occasion. However the Tigers experience took hold & the goals started coming with Brogan, Zak and Elliot all planting them firmly in the net. Throughout the match the Tigers kept the ball in the oppositions half.

Wyrley Tigers would also like to say a big well done to Reece & Jack who also played their first matches & helped their team to victory.

Man of the Match- Zak Parish.

Shire Oak started the game well putting the Tigers immediately under pressure. This pressure resulted in a well worked goal. This gave Shire Oak further encouragement and the Tigers had to defend hard and try and cear their lines. A well worked corner resulted in an own goal coming off Ryan Wood.
The second half saw the Tigers come back into the game and have a couple of good chances. Elliot Tibbs made a powerful run into the penalty area and shot low and hard into the net. Game on. The Tigers kept the pressure up on the Shire Oak goal with a couple of good chances. Brogan Wilshire showed great energy and enthusiam and Connor Lloyd some good skills. Shire Oak soaked up the pressure and in the last 2 minutes of the game scored their 3rd goal by scrambling the ball past Thomas Dodd. Well done lads you showed great determination and energy to run Shire Oak Lions close. Man of the match Brogan Wilshire
