After some magnificent performances the Under13s Girls eventually finished runners up to Burntwood Pheonix in the Lichfield City FC tournament on Saturday – narrowly losing on penalties in an excellent final.

The girls strolled through to the semis helped by some spectacular finishing from Tyler Kent and Keira Turner and fantastic ‘keeping from Cara Turner. Once in the semis the team seemed unbeatable and secured a well deserved 2-0 win to take them to the final – Keira was again on the mark with a wonder goal (the keeper wondered why she never saw it ! 🙂 ) and Chan Clarke adding a late second.

The final was a tight game but Wyrley were unlucky not to have been in front with powerful shots from Keira and Chan forcing the goalkeeper to make some very good saves. Late into extra time and Wyley took the lead from a fine run and shot from Chan – only for Burntwood to equalise with barely seconds remaining – albeit with a very well worked goal.

Then came the Penalties……………lets hope we’ve saved the luck for Mr Capello!

Girls – superb team effort
