CENTRAL WARWICKSHIRE GIRLS FOOTBALL LEAGUE
WYRLEY JUNIORS UNDER 16’s MATCH REPORT
ERDINGTON LADIES 1 v 2 WYRLEY JUNIORS
This was a game played in extremely difficult conditions, a strong cross wind and torrential rain was always going to affect the quality of football played today. Wyrley however got the advantage of the cross wind in their favour in the first half and pinned Erdington back for most of it. After a frenetic opening 15-20 minutes or so Wyrley began to settle, Lucy Wells ran through the Erdington defence the keeper coming to meet her deflected the ball to Danni Biggs whose effort hit Wells in front of goal and the ball just cleared the crossbar. Another Wells break was stopped by a challenge from behind and duly gave Wyrley a deserved penalty, up stepped Jordan Parker to hit her first goal for Wyrley, placing her shot neatly wide of the keeper. Within a few minutes Wyrley were 2 up, a hopeful ball forward by Kate Lawton was headed into her own goal by the luckless Erdington defender. The second half was marred by worsening conditions, however even though Erdington got a goal back, Wyrley worked extremely hard to restrict the opposition to long range efforts and to run out eventual winners, Wyrley man of the match was Lizzie Scoines who worked tirelessly throughout.
