Wyrley Pumas u14’s 0 Wyrley Panthers u14’s 1

Panthers going into this game with only 8 players and having lost the previous week to a late goal from Pumas, things where not looking good for the girls, however our tactics worked by chancing 2 upfront and after losing the toss luckily panthers found themselves kicking downhill and with the wind behind them for the 1st half. The versatile Katie moved upfront alongside Chloe and gave Pumas a lot of problems within the 1st half which paid off in the 10th minute when she scored the 1st and only goal of the match. Pumas had a number of chances in this half  but solid handling from keeper Ellie kept them at bay. The defensive partnership of Shannon & Amy was solid and did not give Pumas forwards many chances, pretty much an even half by both teams but you would not have noticed that Panthers had only 8 players.
2nd half began with the ball back and forward but Pumas probably had more of the ball this half but solid midfield work from Rollo, Lizzie and an outstanding game from Maddy who almost scored a 2nd goal only to see her shot slice past the far post late in the game. With 10 minutes to go another tactical move saw Katie move back into defence leaving Chloe up front being marked by 3 defenders, the defence back to normal eased off any threats from Pumas.
Nice to see our passing game get back together in this match which was missing from last week  and well done Pumas  for never giving up the chase.
Players of the match – Maddy and Ellie – Well done girls a great performance
