Panthers 3 Wednesbury Wildcats 2

Panthers welcomed new signing Katie Lawton to the team and came away worthy winners in this top of the table clash against League Leaders – Wednesbury. Wyrley went into an early lead through some excellent football from all of the team with Alicia Baker hitting the first goal followed shortly by her second of the match just before half time.Within 10 minutes of the second half Wednesbury pulled a goal back, when their right winger suddenly turned and hit a good volley past keeper Ellie. Panthers where still pushing hard for another goal playing against the wind and uphill now. With 15 minutes to go Wednesbury had luck on their side when a clearance from defence hit another Wyrley player and rebounded towards goal only to hit the post and then trickle over the line for Wednesbury’s equaliser. However Panther were not finished yet and with 8 minutes to go a neat one two from Jodie to Alicia just past half way line saw Alicia push forward and hit a tremendous volley into the top of the net to secure the 3 points. Praise must be given to all of the team and a nice comment from Wednesbury manager that our girls passing was the winning point of the game.
