Central Warwickshire Girls Football League U/16s League Cup Quarter Final

Leamington Hibernian 0 Wyrley Juniors FC 7

Wyrley travelled over 50 miles to their third match in this competition and soon put any nerves behind them with a simple strike from Laura Cumberledge. Rachel Hall constantly used her strength and pace to elude the home defenders and scored three fine goals. Beth Crook had a fine game in her defensive midfield role, with Cath Davis and Jemma Clews using the width well.

Defenders Jess Brookes, Holly Scott, Lottie Howells and Nad Bunce kept any Leamington sporadic attacks at bay ensuring that Nia Jay only had the occasional save to make. Emily Downes constantly overlapped to support Hayley Turner, who also got herself on the scoresheet. Emily Quimby scored the goal of the game with a drive from outside the box. An unfortunate own goal secured Wyrley’s place in the semi-final.

A solid performance from the girls – well done!
