Central Warwickshire Girls Football League U/16s Semi Final

Wyrley 0 Derby County 5

Wyrley had battled through 3 rounds to get to this stage, but were unfortunate that the draw pitched them against a team that has the pick of the County and who are unbeaten in 3 seasons. Despite this, Wyrley showed a great account of themselves by not letting their heads drop and battling to the end.

There were some fine individual performances, with keeper Nia Jay pulling off a string of saves. Defenders Holly Scott, Emily Downes, Lottie Howells, Jess Brookes and the impressive Amy Marshall striving hard to keep out Derby attacks. The midfield of Emily Quimby, Hayley Turner, Beth Crook, Cath Davies and Jemma Clews ran their socks off, with Nad Bunce, Rachel Hall and Laura Cumberledge keeping the Derby defence busy acting as lone strikers.

Well done girls – proud of you all!
