Wyrley U/16s Girls 2 Wolverhampton Belles 2

Wyrley produced a strong performance and were unlucky not to come away with the three points. Strong defensive performances this week from Jess Brookes, Amy Marshall, Holly Scott and Emily Downes. Leah Fanning again made numerous forward runs as well as marking tightly and Lottie Howells, in particular made for a strong back four.

Wyrley took the lead after a through ball from Quimby was tucked away by Rachel Hall bursting through from the half way line. Belles equalised with a super volley from a corner. Nia Jay in goal produced a great save to push the ball round the post.

The midfield were on top of their game with Cath Davis, Hayley Turner, Jemma Clews and Beth Crook causing problems and Laura Cumberledge’s pace creating difficulties.

Hall put Wyrley ahead when she smashed home a through ball from 20 yards. Another chance for Hall led to a great double save from the Belles keeper. With the minutes ticking away Belles scored an equaliser from a corner. The Edge of Love release
