Wyrley went out in Round 2 of the Cup against Division 2 side Five Ways. Wyrley fell behind within the first five minutes after a superb 25 yard effort hit the bar only to bounce into the net off keeper Dennant’s head.

The majority of chances fell to the home side with Dennant saving well on 2 or 3 occasions. However, Wyrley drew level towards the end of the first half when the dangerous Green Picture Perfect dvd

scored with a cross come shot which evaded the Five Ways keeper. Half time 1-1

The second half started like the first with the home side scoring early. Like last week Wyrley suffered with injuries as the game progressed but did well to stay in the game, as Five Ways dominated possession without really testing keeper Dennant.

Five Ways stretched their lead when the Wyrley defence tried to play offside but with the decision not going their way the right winger simply passed the ball across to his team mate to slot into an empty net.

Within the last 10 minutes, Crook was put clean through by Dunn, having earlier been given just offside when Faherty played a similar throughball. Advancing into the penalty area, Crook succeeded only in hitting the ball left footed over the bar.

The real business starts next week as Wyrley play their first league game against New Traf at Heath Hayes Park.

Team: 4-4-2
Dennant, Clayton.A, Dunn, Whitehouse, Higgs, Faherty, Garbett, Crook, Clayton.M, Arnold, Green.
Subs: Durbin, Moseley, Wright (Garbett), Burkett (Green), Fletcher (Arnold).
