A great reaction from the disappointment of the opening day defeat saw the lads deservedly win their first game of the season. This despite fielding a weakened team due to holiday and work commitments.

Wyrley just edged the first half with Matt Moseley showing excellent ball control and dribbling skills and combining well with Adam Green. The best chance of the first half fell to Andy Coleman who made good contact as he advanced into the box only for the keeper to save his right foot shot.

The defence remained firm in the first half and throughout the game with the keeper only having a few weakly hit efforts to deal with.

The second half began with Marine just on top but not for long as Wyrley continued to work hard throughout the team. Good work by Green down the left flank saw him cross the ball along the floor to Burkett but Sam sliced the ball wide.

On th hour mark Wyrley were awarded a free kick some 35 yards out and Mark ‘Bully’ Whitehouse stepped up to strike an effort which the keeper should really have saved but only managed to parry the ball over his head and into the net.

Wyrley battled hard to secure all 3 points. Well done lads.
