Brilliant Result For Wyrley Panthers Under 9's
by louiezak on Sep.20, 2009, under Under 10s Panthers 10/11
Well who would have thought it, after last weeks defeat Wyrley Panthers Under 9’s made a come back like you wouldn’t believe!!
With Nigel back to lead the boys, the team played together like they have never played before.
Chase took on the goalkeeper’s position as the Panthers took on Great Barr Harriers for the second time this season.
With Chase fending off anything that came his way, by the end of the first half the team were looking strong with a 0 – 0 score.
Then it happened, before the opposition even had time to shout Harriers, Louie came from nowhere & scored his first goal of the season!!
For the first time in the history of the Panthers they were in the lead!!
With Louie up front, Josh, Dan & Will playing midfield, Damian & Harry in defence & Chase in goal, the Panthers seemed unstoppable. And as if that wasn’t enough, this week they had a substitute! With new recruit Brad watching eagerly from the sideline, the Panthers were riding high. Unfortunately with just minutes to go before the end of the match, Great Barr Harriers scored the equalizer, finishing the match with a 1 – 1 draw. But one thing is for certain…Wyrley Panthers certainly made their presence known against the Harriers.
For their second match the Panthers played Handsworth Town Harriers. With a slight change in formation Louie took the goalkeeper position & Chase played up front. With Handsworth Town Harriers clearly being a strong team Damian & Harry rose admirably to the challenge holding a strong defence throughout. Then another memorable moment for the Panthers as they welcomed their latest member Brad onto the pitch. The team gave it their all but couldn’t quite keep Handsworth at bay leaving them 3 – 0 down by the end of the match.
A huge well done to every member of the Panthers this week. The improvement was remarkable. Brilliant work lads!!
