FRIENDLY Wyrley Tigers 0-0 Brewood Juniors – 9.30am – 01/02/2009

This was Wyrley’s first game since 30th November 2008 and combined with the freezing weather conditions a 0-0 scoreline was pleasing.  Wyrley started the game well with Kyle and Josh.P having a fair amount of joy in midfield.  Luke and Jacob lookied solid at the back and Ryan made some great saves to keep it level.  Brewood’s defence was equally impressive despite great effort and determination by Ethan and Finley in attack.  Half time saw the introduction of Evan, Ryan.B and Josh.S.  Wyrley continued to defend very well, with Evan making some crucial interventions and the half time introductions of Ryan.B and Josh.S almost provided the win with Ryan playing the Ball through for Josh to slot home, only for the referee to disallow the goal due to an earlier disputed challege.  All in all 0-0 a fair result.

FRIENDLY Wyrley Tigers 0-1 Shire Oak Villains – 10.00am – 01/02/2009 Blame It on the Samba dvdrip

After a pleasing first game hopes were high for a Wyrley victory only to be denied by some more dubious decisions from the official!  Wyrley started the game slow with Ryan having to make some vital saves to keep us in the game.  Our defence was often called into action with Evan and Kyle making important interceptions, before Jacob came on for the injured Kyle.  Luke, Josh.P and Ryan.B  worked hard in midfield to try and create chances for Josh.S and Finley upfront only to be foiled by a strong Shire Oak Defence.  Half time 0-0.  Wyrley started the second half on the front foot with Ethan coming close to opening the scoring.  Then came the dubious decision to allow a goal that had been kicked out of Ryan’s hands to stand even when he recovered to dive on the ball on the goal line.  The ref then asked a parent if the ball was over the line AFTER the goal had been given and play continued…..a very confusing decision and game in general.  It’s now onwards and upwards for the Tigers.

A massive well done to all players, you did yourselves proud today!

Also, a massive thank you to all parents, family and friends for braving the cold conditions to cheer the boys on!

As a very cold parent both games were a joy to watch, every player gave 110 percent as they always do no matter what the weather conditions are. There were some bad descisions by the referee’s who just could’nt seem to keep up with the quickness of the games. But overall another great team performance. And a big thanks to Rob, Andy and Steve to get the team were they are today.

    COME ON YOU WYRLEY TIGERS
