Match Report:- Wyrley Juniors United U14’s Season 2014-15
League Div 1:- Wyrley Juniors United 7 v Castle Juniors 2
What an eventful game, some of it good, some of it not so good, we’re quite sure that we’ve never seen a game quite like it before. The reality is, that this group of players responded brilliantly after giving a sloppy goal away, then shortly after this losing Callum Mowe in the United goal because of injury and to add to United’s problems further, before Callum’s replacement the more than capable Jack Craddock had time to settle, a bit of confusion in the United defence saw Castle score their second. United however ended the half on the front foot and a well taken goal from Sam New just before half-time lifted the players and help raise the energy levels for the second half. The second half and United were definitely on the hunt for goals, within a few minutes of the restart, Sam Foreman fed Tom Wheeldon from the edge of the box, he spun cleverly just inside the box and he hit his shot into the corner of the net to draw United level. United began to put pressure on a tiring Castle team and from a great near post corner by Liam Morley, Charlie Hill attacked the ball well and thumped a powerful header beyond the keeper’s left hand. United didn’t take the foot off the gas and could sense that there were more goals on the horizon, Morley had a great drive tipped around the post by Castle’s athletic keeper. Cory Crutchley made an impact on his return to the team and his inch perfect pass put Wheeldon through to calmly round the keeper and slide the ball home. Crutchley then helped himself to an opportunity from the edge of the box, he hit the ball well enough to give the diving keeper no chance. Foreman put the icing on the cake for United, hitting an unstoppable free-kick for United’s sixth and then chipping the keeper from distance for his second and United’s seventh. United’s man of the match went to Alex Price who performed consistently throughout both halves of this game.
The score line was perhaps a little bit flattering at the end but the finishing was spot on in the second half and for this you deserved such a winning margin!
