Match Report:- Wyrley Juniors United U14’s Season 2014-15
Shield Group A
Wyrley Juniors United 3 v Lichfield AFC 3
For the second week running the game was played in awful conditions, the pitch to be fair wasn’t too bad but a high wind and torrential rain made it difficult for both teams to get the ball down and play. United settled the quicker and tested the keeper in the first minute, Tom Wheeldon hit his shot well but the Lichfield keeper was up to the challenge and saved well with his legs. United went ahead a few minutes later when United man of the match Callum Ward hit his first goal of the game. Lichfield caught United out at the back and their forward finished well to bring the scores level. United had spells of pressure but the Lichfield defence held strong, another break caught out United and the striker made it two from two chances to give Lichfield the lead. United came back into the game when Callum Ward hit his second. Into the second half and United’s best move of the game saw a great Cory Crutchley run out wide, he delivered a super ball into the box which Wheeldon dispatched well. Lichfield didn’t give up and their striker completed an impressive hat-trick. United pressed in the last few minutes and Ward was the width of the bar away from his hat-trick.
