Match Report:- Wyrley Juniors United U13’s Season 2013-14

Lichfield League Division 1.

Wyrley Juniors United 9 v 1 Lichfield City Spires

A great performance by United today was the reason behind this emphatic win, there were many outstanding players today proudly wearing the colours of Wyrley Juniors United and each made a significant contribution in the match at some point. Lichfield though took the lead to stun United into action after five minutes. Some great play down the left, then a pass by Tom Wheeldon found Charlie Street  in the Lichfield box to calmly bring United level, Wheeldon then got into the act and calmly rounded the keeper to put United 2-1 up. John Mcdermott turned provider when he hit a great cross into the box for Street to head home his second and Wyrley third. Street hit a first half hat-trick when a fine finish from the edge of the box hit the back of the net via the underside of the crossbar. To cap a fine comeback Tom Peacock jinked on the edge of the box, before hitting a shot true into the bottom corner of the net for Wyrley’s fifth. The second half saw Lichfield push players forward and make the first 10 minutes difficult for Wyrley, man of the match Street hit United’s sixth goal, before Mcdermott  struck United’s seventh, Wheeldon headed home Wyrley’s eighth from a fine Liam Morley corner, before Wheeldon became provider for Sam Foreman to hit United’s ninth and final goal.

Great effort and top drawer finishing today boys well done!
