Match Report:- Wyrley Juniors United U13’s Season 2013-14

Lichfield League Division 1.

Cannock Town 0 v 2  Wyrley Juniors United

After playing Cannock a few weeks back United knew they were going to be in for a tough game, Cannock didn’t disappoint on that front and each player worked hard for their team from start to finish. United passed the ball better than their opponents and that gave United the edge on this occasion . Cannock  defended well during the first half, however, John Mcdermott and Yazz tested the keeper but he was up to the task. United however kept asking questions of the Cannock defence and Mcdermott made another run down the right, only this time to be felled by the Cannock full back just inside the box. The Referee awarded the penalty and up stepped man of the match Elliot Crook to hit home a well taken penalty to give the excellent Cannock keeper no chance. The second half and United continued to pressurize the Cannock defence, Mcdermott, Tom Wheeldon, Charlie Street  and Sam Foreman all went close and were thwarted by either  the woodwork or a great stop by the Cannock keeper. The second goal did come eventually, this time Foreman  took his chance well when the ball sat up for him nicely just inside the box, he then lifted the ball over the advancing keeper. United may have been in control of the game but Cannock didn’t sit back and continued to compete well for possession, as a result the killer third goal never came for United and they had to be content with a 2-0 win.

Fabulous win boys, well done today, great team performance.
