Match Report:- Wyrley Juniors United U14’s Season 2014-15

Open Cup Quarter Final.

North Birmingham Celtic 4 v Wyrley Juniors United 2. (AET)

United were a little unlucky not to progress to the semi finals today, both teams were faced with difficult conditions, an icy wind and torrential rain was prominent throughout the game. There wasn’t much to choose between the two teams during normal time play, United perhaps just edged the game on clear cut chances during normal time but just couldn’t find the net today, credit must be given to the NBC keeper who kept his team in the tie with several point blank saves. United man of the match Tom Rowlands finished neatly to put  United ahead, only for NBC to equalise just before half time. Cory Crutchley put United ahead in the second half and with ten minutes to go looked like they may have done enough to win the game, but a speculative shot by the NBC player found its way into the United goal to set up extra time, United couldn’t find last week’s resolve on this occasion and NBC took their chances in extra-time to progress to the semi finals.
