Match Report:- Wyrley Juniors United U14’s Season 2014-15

Lichfield League Cup 1st round.

Wyrley Juniors United 8 v Lichfield City Spires 1.

United came up against Lichfield Spires from division 3 in the Lichfield League, in this cup encounter. United took control of the game from the start and didn’t give their opponents time to settle. United attacked well and had several half chances before Tom Wheeldon broke free to hit his first goal. Man of the match Wheeldon was a constant threat and tormented the Spires defence, he completed his Hat-trick within the first 20 minutes of the game, with some calm assured finishing. United continued to dominate and in this one sided half scored three further goals, Wheeldon hit his fourth, Sam Foreman and Sam New hit one a piece, both finishing well within the six yard box. The second half saw Spires get a little more possession as they threw caution to the wind. United still created chances and Cory Crutchley took his opportunity well to put United 7 up, this was much deserved after much unselfish team play earlier in the game. Sam New hit his second and was unlucky to miss out on a hat-trick, before Lichfield got their consolation for a spirited second half performance.
