Match Report:- Wyrley Juniors United U13’s Season 2013-14

Lichfield League Division 1.

Wyrley Juniors United 5 v 2 Heath Hayes

United went into this game against table toppers Heath Hayes knowing this was potentially their most difficult game of the season so far, However the attitude and application of the United boys was sensational and gave Hayes little chance to get a foothold in the game. After the early exchanges, a slide rule pass released Tom Wheeldon who placed his shot neatly in the corner of the goal to put United one up. Heath Hayes replied a few minutes later to level the game, but from this moment on United took the game by the scruff of the neck, Charlie Street sent United into half time with a 2-1lead courtesy of a magnificent 25 yard volley which found the far corner of the net. The second half United continued to press and Wheeldon hit his second from close range and completed his hat- trick a few minutes later with a fine effort from just inside the box which found the roof of the net to give United a comfortable 4-1 lead. Street added to his tally with 10 minutes to go, placing his shot neatly into the corner of the goal. United tired a little with a few minutes left and Hayes hit their second via a fine strlke from just outside the box.

Special mention also to Sam F, Callum, Tom P, Tom R, Sam C, John, Brad, Alex, Liam, Lewis and Kieran, who all worked tirelessly today!

Fantastic performance against the unbeaten league leaders who had not conceded in their first 3 games, we breached their defences inside 3 minutes!! 20 goals now in 3 games but this latest effort was the pick of the bunch. Work rate, passion & desire was breathtaking and the quality of goals, especially Charlie’s volley, was 1st class. Super effort lads, very proud
