Match Report:- Wyrley Juniors United U14’s Season 2014-15

Lichfield League Division 1.

Beacon Colts 0 v 5 Wyrley Juniors United.

On a cold but Sunny winter’s day United started brightly against their opponents, Tom Wheeldon was played in twice within the first 10 minutes and took his chances well to put United 2 up. United passed the ball well, but the state of the pitch and the windy conditions didn’t help either team play attractively. Beacon settled and they too tried to play neat passing football. United with the wind at their backs continued to press and United man of the match Wheeldon battled through the box to hit his third, other opportunities fell to United but credit to the Beacon keeper who kept United at bay. Sam New smashed in United’s fourth towards the end of the first half. The second half saw Beacon come at United a little, using the conditions to their advantage, However United went close through Wheeldon, Cory Crutchley, Callum Holliday and Cody Stephens before Crutchley scored to complete a great team performance.

Thanks also goes to our opponents today who participated in the commemorative WW1 truce photo before the game kicked off.
