Match Report:- Wyrley Juniors United U14’s Season 2014-15

Lichfield League Cup Division 1.

Wyrley Juniors United 3 v Brewood Juniors 1.

United were back in league action today and came up against a well organised Brewood team, United shuffled the line up a little from the previous match but started brightly and put Brewood under pressure. United created several chances but both Cory Crutchley and Tom Wheeldon couldn’t quite find the finishing touch, However eventually Brewood’s back line was breached and United man of the match Crutchley opened United’s account when he coolly slid the ball past the advancing keeper and into the corner of the net. United needed to make this pressure count and a long ball set Wheeldon free to double United’s lead. Brewood make 3 substitutions just before half time and this freshened their team up but United finished the halve after having created better chances. The second half started and Brewood kept possession well and put United under some early pressure, in fact they had their best spell of the game and got a goal back as a product of this pressure. The game became more open and Brewood continued to see more of the ball than they had in the first half, United may have sat back to try and keep things tight but United’s best move of this half saw Crutchley again one on one with the keeper and there was only going to be one outcome this time has he hit United’s third. United must be praised because they tried to keep taking the game to their opponents, who it must be said had a much better second half, Callum Mowe in the United goal was kept busy on a few occasions in this half and he too like the rest of the defence and midfield played a huge part in closing the game out.

Well done boys great performance, keep it up!
