Match Report:- Wyrley Juniors United U14’s Season 2014-15

Lichfield League Division 1.

Wyrley Juniors United 2 v Wyrley Juniors Jags 3

United started the better of the two teams against a strong diagonal wind, united passed the ball well and played with a freedom which was pleasing to watch, United capitalised on a defensive error to take the lead through Tom Wheeldon, United then gifted their opponents two goals which help lift the Jags, United saw off a fair amount of pressure in the last minutes of the half. The second half and United took the game to their opponents again but just couldn’t find an equaliser, Sam Foreman, Callum Ward and United man of the match Sam Cottrell all going close. A good individual breakaway goal saw Jags stretch their lead to 3-1 as United piled on the pressure, with five minutes to go Lewis Hill won a penalty for United and Wheeldon stepped up to hit his second of the game. Jags saw out the final few minutes to cap a fine season for them, our congratulations go to the Jags for finishing runners up!

United can hold their heads up high after their first season in this league finishing a creditable 4th.
