13th September 2009

Dragons played host to Tower Fc for their first home game of the season.

It only took Dragons a few minutes to start and stamp their authority on the game. The midfield of Ryan, Carl, Cieran W and Brandon started to press Tower hard, not letting them build up any real dangerous attack.

Some great passing allowed Dragons to score first with the ball being fed to Kieran S who scored a screamer from 25 yards out. That signalled the start of Dragons domination of the first half with Kieran S scoring two more goals for his hat trick with only 20 minutes played. Dragons pushed with dogged determination for a fourth goal before half time scrambling Towers defence on numerous occasions to no success.

Half Time 3 – 0

After dominating the first half so well, Dragons eased back and looked comfortable and with the defence playing well, but having little to do, you could sense a lapse of concentration would let Tower in and that’s exactly what happened. Tower broke down their left flank, cutting the ball back to a free player who hit the ball first time to score.

Dragons immediately responded and increased the tempo, once again taking control of the game, Tom H made an excellent run down the right wing beating three players and producing a good cross for Carl to score his first goal of the season. Dragons never let up from that moment on producing some of the best passing movements so far this year allowing Liam R to score the second hat trick of the game and also have a good goal disallowed for offside. Dom wrapped up the scoring pushing from defence to run onto a loose ball, hitting it goal wards from the edge of the box.
