This second round fixture in the Stan Eccleston cup against top division opposition was a good test for the Cougars . Holy Name took the lead half way through the 1st half as poor defending from the Cougars defence saw a poorly struck free kick went past everyone into the far corner .Holy name doubled their lead just before half time as Cougars pushed on for the equalizer leaving spaces in behind saw the Holy Name midfielder burst through to slot into the bottom corner. Cougars changed their system at half time which saw a complete change in the play as Cougars completely dominated the 2nd half getting a goal back straight after the restart Jack Goodier forcing a save from the keeper & Tom Dyson was their to put the rebound into the net. Cougars threatened the Holy Name goal through out the 2nd half until one of many corners paid of , Dan Thacker lost his marker & a good flick on saw Tom Dyson head in at the far post for his & Cougars 2nd of the game . The game contiued as the same through out the 2nd haif & extra time as Cougars dominated the play unable to force the winner after creating many chances . Penalties came & Matt Bouliver got Cougars off to a great start by saving Holy names 1st penalty , Josh Cowley stepped up & slotted into the corner for the Cougars , Holy name 2nd penalty only just reached the net after a miss kick ,Luke Ponder stepped up & doubled Cougars lead , Holy Name next pen cleared the cross bar , Dan Thacker then put Cougars in complete control again finding the net . Names next pen was converted , which left Jacob Shaw to win the game for the Cougars which he did with ease putting Cougars into the quarter finals .
