The Club, with Cheslyn Hay History Society and Great Wyrley History Society, is organising an event at our clubhouse on August 3rd to remember the outbreak of the First World War. The theme being one of memory and using children as a message to look forward in hope.

The event takes the form of a 7 a side football competition for Under 10s (year 5s) in festival format i.e. no losers with every player receiving a trophy.

The timetable will be along the following: –

9.30 Opening by local RBL and hopefully the Lord Lieutenant of Stafordshire
10.00 8 teams take part in football tournament – 5 local schools, cubs, Wyrley Juniors FC and Boys Brigade. Play in 2 groups of 4 with 3 matches each
12.00 Award of medals for all by a football personality and into clubhouse for food for children
1.00 finish

There will be displays by both history societies of life in the 2 villages at the outbreak of war

The event is free to enter for the teams and is part of our community work.
