Get ready to say errrrggghhh! The U12 Meerkats are pictured below with our special guest Olivia ‘Chick’ Fergusson of the Aston Villa Ladies fame.  I heard originally that the gaffer requested Katie Wilkinson or Maddy Cusack from the Villans, but i managed to talk him round as Olivia is definitely the nicest one and of a similar size to our girls. Gaffer Youd knows little of the game being a scouser and frequently needs my knowledge to advise him.

We were privileged to have Olivia present the awards to the deserving girls after a hard fought season and Olivia’s presence was well received by everyone.  Luckily Olivia was sporting her Villa tracksuit otherwise we’d have to play spot the celebrity!

Dave ‘Bloke’ Youd played compere for the evening and luckily for all he refrained from singing the Robert Plant back catalogue.

Well done to all players and especially the 3 girls who were awarded a ‘special’ trophy.

Skye ‘Loco’ Lee was awarded Players Player trophy

Mya ‘The Magician’ Sidhu was awarded the Parents Player award

Erin ‘The General’ Waddilove was awarded the Managers Player trophy.

Big up to Michelle Clay our parents representative for her efforts during the season and for arranging the buffet and the DJ who played songs that made me feel exceptionally old, that resulted in the kids dancing like they had something on their shoes!  Michelle also presented Dave and I with a lovely present accompanied with little notes from each player.  I did wonder why the notes to me were heavily edited and with different handwriting – only joking – it was a lovely thought.

Mentions go to our Mrs Sturch-Porter our resident Mrs Doyle (Tea lady) who ran the pitch side refreshments like a military operation.  Also like to thank Mark Mitchell for his support in running the line last season.  He also brought back the shell suit, however it failed to take off with the other parents.

Massive thanks to Steve and Tina Parker from Elite Sails our sponsor – much appreciated.

Looking forward to next season as we are going 11 a side! Bigger goals, bigger girls, bigger pitch = lots of moaning.

MASSIVE thanks to Olivia for taking time out of her busy schedule to attend. We promise to bring the girls down to a Villa home game to cheer you on –  you will definitely know when we turn up as the noise level increases ten fold.
