This high scoring game was very much an end to end affair. The heavy pitch made ball control quite difficult and the long ball was frequently used. A quick start from Panthers saw Tyler go close followed by a Beacon shot well saved by Josh then on three minutes Chase got free of his marker and scored with a low shot into the bottom right hand corner, 0-1. Then one minute later Louie had a free kick just outside the box but his shot was well saved. Quickly, Beacon returned the favour which Josh saved well. Panthers then let things slip as their defence went missing and Beacon scored two quick goals, 2-1. Fortunately, Panthers bounced back with a close shot from Chase, quickly followed by a goal from Tyler, 2-2. Half time.
The second half continued in the same way. Louie chased the ball down toward the right side of the box, cut in hard shot but, the Beacon keeper pushed the shot over the bar. Moments later, Panthers put in another cross from the right and an attempted Beacon clearance scewed into the net, 2-3. Again, the ball was quickly returned and Beacon yet again equalised, 3-3. Panthers were now determined to get control of the game and boy, they did it in style. Neat passing through midfield found Tyler who struck a bullet of a shot from outside the box. The ball struck the underside of the bar and bounced down, whether the ball crossed the line or not, the ref gave the goal, 3-4. Panthers kept pushing all the way and after another close effort from Tyler, midfield representitive Ben popped up to put this one to bed with number five, 3-5. Full time.
A very, very welcome three points and fine performances from Oscar in defence, Ben in midfield and Tyler up front. Man of the match – Tyler, well done.
