Having met Bentley twice during the summer in tournaments and been the victors on both occasions, the Lions were keen to get this game underway! And within 24 seconds they had the ball in the net, after some neat play from the kick off the ball was played out to Richie “Titch” Sutton who beat his man on the wing got to the byline and cut the ball back to the “Robsonesque” run of Elison “Eddy” Yates to crack the ball past the keeper!!! from there the Lions continued to make chance after chance without taking any of them due partly to an outstanding display by the Bentley keeper and yes you have guessed it just before half time they were caught napping and ended up coming in at half time honours even! The second half started like the first only this time the Lions were not to be denied with two slick goals coming from Liam “Fanny” Craddock and a quick fire hat trick from Joshua “Superstar” Guest! The lions eventually ran out 6-2 victors which again could have been alot more if  not for the heroics of the Bentley Keeper!

The second game of the day was against Wednesfield F.C. again a team the Lions do not have a g0od record against, the lions started well but unfortunately so did Wednesfield. The pressure was mostly on the lions defence and even though playing out confidently from the back wednesfield caught on to what they were doing and mugged the lions to take the lead!! After the break the lions came out meaning business with some no nonsence defending from Lloyd and Stevens, the midfield”Borrowers” were able to get a grip and Liam Craddock equalised. They kept the pressure up and hit the crossbar with a rasping shot again from “Fanny” which he soon made amends for by putting the Lions up 2-1. Wednesfield try as they may could not break down the Wyrley defence until the last minuet when their forward managed to slip the close attention of Owen Lloyd and went through clear only to be denied by a magnificent save by Sammy “the cat”!!

Well done boys!! impossible to choose a man of the match so team of the match this week!!!
