In what turned out to be a close fought contest Wyrley survived to make their way into the next round of the Cannock Chase Cup.

As usual the pace of Wyrley’s attack troubled the opposition and after Matt Moseley missed his opportunity after doing all the hard work, Wyrley went ahead with a superb header from Dan Bourke who came in from the right wing to meet Josh Rollason’s excellent centre.

Half Time 0-1

Wyrley doubled their lead when Haydn Nash beat several players down the left and somehow squeezed the ball past the keeper at his near post for his first goal of the season. On the opposite wing, Dan Bourke then beat his full back and advanced along the touch line before cutting the ball back for Josh Griffiths to score with his first touch of the game after coming on for Matt Moseley.

Bridgetown then scored twice in the last 15 minutes to set up an interesting finale but the commanding Ashley Gunn and his defensive unit held out to see Wyrley home.
