With the golden girls out at Futsal, Dodger at Wembley, Ben AWOL and Dynamo on his sick bed, the Dragons were left with a rather small handful of players.  Even the gaffer deserted us! Only joking Chris…… I’m sure the car boot sale was more important than the games haahahahaha.

With 6 players we descended on the Goals centre in sunny Willenhall to embark on fixtures against Wednesfield and Stonnall.  Glorious sunshine greeted us and the parents were even seen sporting 1980’s esque shorts and shades!!

First up was Wednesfield which happened to be an old team of Ash ‘The Flash’ and we all wanted to do well for him.  The Dragons dug deep but it was tough going and were conceding corner after corner from the constant pressure.  Luckily the defensive duo of Aniallator and 007 were keeping their efforts at bay, but a lapse in marking led to a bullet header smashing into the net for Wednesfield to take the lead.  Ash was doing his best to try and carve out an opening but was being thwarted by sheer numbers of defenders.  Wednesfield grabbed a second goal from another corner and this sealed the win as the Dragons couldn’t find the definitive passes to create the openings.

The kids came off not too dejected and refuelled on copious amounts of sugary drinks.  The formation stayed the same as we had no alternatives and wasn’t long before we struck gold, when Ash rifled home from close range.  Ash went on to bag an unofficial 6 goals and the parents who were there will know the reasons why!  Goal of the game though came from Matty ‘Wireless’ Noguiera who hit a rasper of a volley that nearly burst the net open.  Daddy Nog was beaming and applauding in appreciation, a proud moment!! Reily the Rock was having an absolute barn stormer of performances. He was like a leaping Salmon that caught, tipped and punched the ball away to retain a clean sheet.

Player of match #1 awarded to Niall who showed great composure, strength and skill – amazing performance! Oh and he hit the post with a freekick.

Player of match #2 awarded to Reily for his heroics between the sticks.

Thanks to all the parents for assisting this weekend gone, much appreciated!

Special thanks goes to Jayden (Ash’s brother) for reasons to be known by those who attended.  Note to all though, he needs to be a Wyrley player and quickly!!!
