For Hardy,England and Wyrley Bear!!! Match reports 23/09/2012

The lions started off with a friendly with the now very familiar Bentley Community. Bentley were quick out of the blocks against an experimental side with Aaron “the bends” Clee coming in the defence and George ” Judith Charmers” Bicknall taking up the left wing posistion after his holibobs!! Once more the lions huffed and puffed in the first half and gave away the obligitory goal just before half time! The second half started with the lions on the front foot and not long after Liam Craddock levelled the scores from close range after some nice passing.after that it was one way traffic but just as Bentley thought they had got something out of the game up popped Liam with a stunning right foot volley to win the game in the last throws of the match!

The second game was a winner takes all contest with Bustleholme to see who would win the group, and Bustleholme started by far the stronger. Owen Lloyd, Connor Stevens holding firm in defence and some great tackling in midfield from Ellison, Josh and the always busy Liam stopping the wave after wave of attacks of the Bustleholme team before they troubled “the Cat” too much!! The increasingly lonley figuar of Richie Sutton up front suddenly sprang into action as he ran onto a great through ball by Ellison only to smash the ball over the crossbar, but this gave the lions confidence to attack and soon afterwards Liam and Richie broke through and had a two on one with their defender and before he could make up his mind what to do the ball hit the back of the net from a cracking shot from Liam Craddock. After the break the Lions continued with renewed vigor and had bustleholme on the back foot from the off, and after some lovely football the ball was fed through to Richie who smashed the ball from the right hand side of the penalty area past the goalkeeper only to see it hit the inside of the one post and then onto the other post and come out! More and more of the game was being played in and around the bustleholme area now and it was surely only a matter of time when the ball again broke to Richie who shot hard and low across the keeper only to see him palm it out into the path of the in running Liam who lifted it into the net!!
