Wyrley travelled to local rivals Hednesford town in the 1/4 final of the Stan Eccleston cup.Wyrley kicking against a very strong wind in the first half spent the first 20 mins defending but a breakaway against the run of play saw midfielder Ben Squire give Wyrley the lead.Hednesford got back in the game before half time when the winger was allowed time and space to cross resulting in a tap in, Half Time 1-1. The 2nd half was all Wyrley and using the wind a ball over the top by Danny Hassell  gave Lawrence Begu a one on one chance and he made no mistake Wyrley then failed to use the strong wind to their advantage and a rare Hednesford attack resulted in keeper Joe Lakin fouling the striker and the penalty was converted, Joe did try to confuse the penalty taker by standing still but to no avail, the game went to extra time.Wyrley faced the wind in the first half but stern defending by Alex Rowe and Sam Lawrence kept Hednesford out, the second half was one way traffic and with only 2mins remaining Wyrley got the winner a through ball by Rick O’Shea set up Liam Sandland who chipped the keeper to put Wyrley into the semi – finals
