Marston Green U18 Girls 3-6 Wyrley Juniors U18 Girls

Wyrley made the trek down the M6 knowing that a hard game was to come especially as we only had 10 players.  Wyrley started the brighter and were rewarded on 5 mins when Kelly sent a sweet pass to Leanne who slotted past the keeper 0-1.  8 mins Leanne made a run down the wing and sent in a cross for Sophie to head home 0-2.  Chelsea battled for the ball in midfield and struck a shot which the keeper didnt hold onto leaving Chelsea to smash it home 0-3.  26 mins Sophie was bought down in the box and the ref pointed to the spot, which Sophie dispatched into the bottom left corner just past the outstreatched keeper who had guessed the right way 0-4.  At this point i had to count the players on the field as it looked like we had the extra player.   31 mins Leanne made the run down the wing crossed to Sophie who made no mistake to grab her hat trick 0-5.  The defence of Jody Sarah Charlie and Kelly all defended well closing down and blocking everything Marston threw at them.  In midfield Chelsea headed both ball and player at 1 point which left her seeing stars, Sophie had treatment from the foul in the box and were relieved to hear the half time whistle.

The 2nd half saw Wyrley kicking uphill and into the sun, which marston used with the extra man to their advantage.  66mins Lauren didnt hold onto the ball and spilt it at the forwards feet who made no mistake in slotting home 1-5.  Midfield of Tash, Sophie, Chelsea and Leanne made some terrific runs and sent some lovely balls over for Lauri to chase but the task was harder in this half.  A challenge on Jody saw wyrley down to 9 for 5mins but they held out well.  80mins Leanne ran at the defence and took on 3 defenders before placing the ball past the keeper 1-6.  87mins a shot at Lauren was miss handled and scooped into the net, not sure if thats as assist or own goal 2-6.  89 mins and the best shot of the game went to Marston who had been restricted to a long range effort which left Lauren no chance of stopping 3-6.  Wyrley were hanging on in there to the bitter end, with each and everyone of them giving 110%.  A great result which made Martin very very proud of all of you.  Keep up the good work next week.
