This was an unusual match tinged with controversy late on. Silverdale were one man short and you might expect this to make a big difference in Panthers favour but, things didn’t turn out that way. In the first half Panthers had plenty of possession as you might expect having an extra man but they struggled to find the net. The first nine minutes saw Silverdale pinned back in their own half but every shot from Panthers went wide and Silverdale made good use of their reduced numbers by defending from a deep position. On the ninth minute Silverdale broke through but Oscar managed to deflect the shot wide. Eventually, Panthers efforts paid off as Louie headed in a loose ball from close range and just before half time Tyler broke free but the angle was tight and the ball ended in the side netting. Half time 0-1.
The second half kick off was so fast, you’d have missed it if you blinked. Straight from the first pass, Tyler scorched up the field and blasted in a low shot, 0-2, then just moments later Chase broke from midfield but he slightly scuffed his shot and the Silverdale keeper smothered the ball. A moment’s lack of concentration then allowed Silverdale through to score, 1-2. The next five minutes was all Panthers but despite a great shot from Chase that was well saved by Silverdale’s keeper, all other shots crept wide and then it happened again – Silverdale goal, 2-2. On 27 minutes Tyler got another shot in on target and this time their keeper couldn’t reach it, 2-3. The clock was now running down to the finish, 30 minutes came and went, still no whistle. Silverdale were now pushing hard and put a short cross into the box which Lewis blocked – whistle – penalty! (31 minutes). Silverdale took the shot, Josh blocked but Silverdale followed up with a chip, 3-3. Full time.
A harsh result for Panthers.
