Tamworth Lionesses 2-3 Wyrley Ladies

A depleated Wyrley squad travelled to Tamworth, we had several players missing but managed 12, which was 2 more than Tamworth.  It took 16mins for Wyrley to break the deadlock, Sam passing to Emily who pushed the ball through to Leanne to send the keeper the wrong way 0-1.  The rest of the half consisted of head tennis, and see who could kick the ball the furthest from the pitch in a clearance.

The 2nd half started a little brighter and Leanne beat the offside trap and placed her shot past the keeper 0-2.  54mins a counter attack saw Tamworth shoot from the corner of the box, which Lauren had no chance of stopping 1-2.  56mins substitute Mary made a sweet cross to Sam who sent it goalwards, and went in off the far post 1-3.  63mins a dubious corner resulted in pinball in the box which Tamworth managed to win 2-3.  The makeshift defence of Kelly, Kirsty, Ash and Charlie stood up well for the rest of the game, midfielders Tash, Leanne, Sam and Emily had a hard task containing Tamworth who were fast to the ball and always looking to attack.  Vikki and Sophie had a hard time trying to break down the solid defence of Tamworth, who it seemed had mastered the offside trap to near perfection.

All in all not a bad result, but would prefer to see a smoother passing game next time we play.

Next week away to willenhall town.
