Tigers v Brownhills Community Colts

The Tigers had a bit of a rude awakening in the first half of this game with Brownhills pouring forward with their no 7 at the centre of everything. This combined with a couple of Tigers players not able to be at the games today created a real lack of composure at the back which spread through the side in the fist half, although once again Joe T was looking very good in everything he did. Aran Poonian did come close on a couple of occasions but with fate against him and the rest of the boys Brownhills took a deserved lead when a quick counter saw Joe T make a good save only for the rebound to be slotted home. The first half came to an end with Tom Sutton who had put in a good shift making an instinctive pass to Joe Rodda who forced a good save out of the keeper.
The second half promised much but a long goal kick led to a second goal for the opponents with the Tigers again giving too much space to Brownhills and standing off the players. This spurred the Tigers into action and more good work from Tom Sutton making a strong run down the left flank released Aran Poonian who powered a shot into the roof of the net. The Tigers were back on level terms soon after with the Tigers best passing move resulting in Cole Askey firing in from close range. Game on. The game was now much more even and as Tigers sensed a winner. The play broke towards their own goal with Tom Sutton conceding a penalty for a challenge from behind. Joe T was given little chance as the penalty was dispatched to his right in what proved to be the last action of the match. The Tigers tasted there first defeat of the season against a much-improved Brownhills Community Colts but there was much to admire about their fight back.

Tigers v Tipton Town

The Tigers started much brighter in what is now proving to be a bit of a grudge match for Tipton who the Tigers were yet to concede a goal against in five meetings. With the boys hurting from their first defeat of the season Kian Cox and Tom Sutton were now up for the fight and battling for every ball. However Tipton broke their duck and nicked the opening goal with the Tigers defence again standing off. The goals now started to flow with Tom Sutton driving the ball home to level the score. The Tigers were soon in front after a fantastic show of skill from Cole Askey, with his quick feet and good vision he laid on Tom’s second of the game. The Tigers were pegged back again though with a fine strike from outside the box. The second was end to end and their was no let up in the pace of this game. The Tigers fell behind again with a defensive mix up giving Joe T no hope of making a save. With the players showing a real desire not to be on the end of a second defeat today Armaan Sohi made a brave challenge to stop the Tipton attack and it was a fitting end when Aran Poonian levelled, chipping the keeper from inside the box.

Although the results were not in our favour today, i’m proud of the effort the players showed in adversity today. Well done to Brad, Kian, Armaan, Joe T, Joe R, Tom, Aran and Cole.

Man of the Match today was a very easy desicion with Tom Sutton once again outstanding in the numerous positions he is asked to play each week. Well done Tom you are progressing very well indeed.
