U12s Cup QTR Final – Bentley Youth Colts 1 v Wyrley Jaguars 3
by Coops Snr on Nov.04, 2012, under Match Reports, Under 17s Jaguars 17/18
The Jaguars were on the road again for the quarter final of the Bilston Challenge Cup against an unbeaten Bentley Youth Colts who have been scoring goals for fun this season and top the Bilston Junior Football League.
From the very first minute Wyrley were on the front foot out battling and out passing their bemused hosts and it wasn’t long before the Colts keeper was called on. Playing on the counter Bentley just couldn’t cope with the pace Wyrley attacked at, lone striker Luke was in impeccable form and single-handedly ran the Colts back four ragged and on 15 minutes put the Jags in a deserved lead. It was at this point Wyrley lost a little shape and allowed the home side back in the game, they took their only real chance of the first half to draw level. Just when it looked like the sides would go in level at the break another slick move allowed Luke to break away only to be ‘wiped’ out by the huge Colts keeper. To the letter of the law the lad should have walked but just a yellow allowed him to pick the resulting penalty out of the net as Louie calmly placed in the top corner.
After a half time ‘roasting’ the colts came out stronger in the second half. The back four of Ollie, Tom (Tank), Oaksey and Milky held firm and soaked up the immediate pressure, assisted by Jamie, Euan and Coops the storm was weathered and Wyrley worked their way back into the game. Luke grabbed another and the Jags never looked back in what should have been a greater victory margin.
The squad has real depth, Billy and Brean came of the bench to play their part as did Bruce and TJ. Sam and Louie playing in different roles both worked hard with Pricey looking assured between the sticks. A real team effort capped with a man of the match performance from Luke, five wins from the last five games and confidence is growing quickly!
