Game 1 vs Wyrley Tigers
Charlie Ashley Footes struck for the pumas with 4 stunning goals today with the pumas continuing on their path to improve every game possible with great passing a quick and effective closing down of play. The tigers came out strong with a no holds barred attitude which the pumas appreciated and eventually broke down on the counter attacks. With a brother and sister club the pumas knew it was going to be tough and carried on playing as much football as possible on what can only be described as a bumpy horrible surface. It was always going to be a tough week with both teams missing key squad members due to the Wembley Cup Final, The Pumas congratulate the strong improvement week by week from the tigers and look forward to meeting them again in the future. Not GOOOOOOOOO PUMAS BUT GOOOOOOOOOOOOO WYRLEY and as the badge says “TO COMPETE AND ENJOY”
Game 2 vs Sporting Kalsa
Wow this game really did have its ups and downs, The Pumas started off with a strong start almost instantly breaking the opposition down and getting an early lead but with illness’s running through the team and tiredness of back to back games we soon dropped our heads and was behind in no time. Just before the break showed some amazing teamwork from these young boys with a free kick lined up on the edge of the box for Charlie Ashley Footes to dummy a fake shot to pass the ball to William Dorricott to smash one home to bring the game level at the break. After the Break we made a rotation of goalkeeping and went for it. Working as a team and using all we learn in training to push and managed to counter and be rewarded with a penalty, with Bray Makin not well and missing a penalty in Game 1 we needed a boost in confidence and WOWWWWWWWW this boy showed no lack of that with his penalty smashing into the side netting like a spit of zidane. Soon after the pumas were under some serious pressure and with Joey Plimmer taking the reins in goal he made some excellent saves to keep us in the game. The Pumas will sleep well tonight and a big well done for their attitude towards every player, manager and team they come up against. Very Proud and I guess the parents are also.
