Wyrley lost for the first time this season to a big and strong Uttoxeter team – who made the most of their physical advantage with 3 first half goals.

Second half was completely different as our girls reorganised the shape of the team to deal with the Uttoxeter threat higher up the pitch. Gradually we began to control the game and push Uttoxeter backwards. Captain Hollie Hinsley hit an excellent half volley which thundered back off the cross bar and Beth Paterson struck the post with a curling left foot effort……..it was probably then we realised this really was not going to be our day! Wyrley pressure continued but we could not find the first goal that I’m sure would have led to more.

Despite the score we were very pleased with the way the girls responded to some fairly rough play and finished the game as the stronger team.

Well done to everyone and special mentions for Beth Paterson and Chelsie Sherwood – two debuts full of promise for great things to come and to Emma Cartwright who was outstanding at the back second half alongside the impressive Hollie Hinsley.

Team: Cara Turner, Ellie Deakin, Hollie Hinsley, Beth Paterson, Keeley Dabbs, Chloe Andrea, Ty Kent, Emily Scott, Emma Cartwright, Chelsie Sherwood, Keira Turner
