Wolverhampton Utd 0 Wyrley Juniors 3

Wyrley travelled to Prestwood Road stadium on Saturday and recorded their 4th win on the trot. Injury and a family bereavement forced a reshuffle from the previous week. Chris Fowler was injured and Asa Wright was moved into his slot with Matt Darby coming in on the right, Phil Bowater took Aarron Wrights position with Mark Simms coming in at full back. The first half was maybe just shaded by Wyrley but was very scrappy compared with recent weeks. Wyrley were just not doing their jobs and seemed to have an air of complacency about them, things needed addressing at half time and indeed they were.

Half time 0-0

For the first 10 minutes of the second half things looked about the same but gradually Wyrley began working and talking  and the reward came when a free kick on the left was flicked on by Darby and Aiden Smith swept in at the far post and stroked the ball home. Shortly after Geldart was replaced by Millard after feeling ill. Minutes later Wyrley made it 2. Darby won the ball in his own half and played a nice through ball for Wright he took the ball round the advancing keeper and crossed low for Millard to fire into the empty net.

Wyrley were now dominating and Darby who had taken a knock went off to be replaced by Lee Myatt for his debut. With 15 minutes left Jimmy Moore made way for Dan Martin and Wyrley scored the 3rd. Good team work on the left resulted in the ball finding it’s way to Danny Dolman on the edge of the box. Quick as a flash he contolled the ball and struck a superb shot past the helpless ‘keeper. Wyrley now switched to 4-4-2 to shore up the game. Wolverhampton to their credit never gave up and at times played some nice football, getting the ball down and passing well. This result moves Wyrley up 6th and leaves them full of confidence for Saturdays visit to Stone.
