Wolves started life in Division three with four well earned points at Shelfield yesterday morning.

Wolves’ first encounter was a tough fought match against a very attack minded Bloxwich Rangers. It was Rangers who broke the deadlock after four minutes when Wolves failed to deal with a ball at the back allowing the Rangers midfielder to score from the edge of the box. Despite going a goal down Wolves still looked a threat going forward and were soon level when Ben found Lily in space who calmly slotted past the Rangers keeper.
Wolves extended their lead just three minutes later with Ben closing down a loose pass by the defender to smash the ball home. This game was more like a basketball match with end to end play by both teams keeping Regan and Cameron very busy and Jordan being tested more in one game than he has been throughout the first half of the season.
It looked as though Wolves would go on to take all three points after taking the lead but credit to Rangers they came back strong to draw level before half time.
The second half saw the introduction of Josh & Jake for Tom & Ed who had both gone close with efforts in the first half. Wolves could have and should have taken all three points after taking a two goal lead through Lily and Ben, but missing Callum in the centre of midfield proved costly as Rangers came back to level the game at 4-4 .
Overall a fair result and a much stiffer test in this new division.

Wolves’ second game was against a Tipton Youth team who had been relegated from division 2 and would prove our toughest test yet. Despite the two division gap which the teams had at the start of the season Wolves looked the more accomplished team as the soon raced into a two goal lead with goals from Ben & Lily before the Tipton striker pulled one back to put the game on a knife edge again.
Wolves again dug deep and made the half time team talk a little easier as Lily scored her second to give Wolves a 3-1 half time lead.
Having thrown away a two goal cushion in the first match Wolves looked in danger of doing it again when Tipton came out and scored in the first two minutes to close the game again. Spurred on by this Wolves soon restored their two goal lead with Ed smashing in from close range to make it 4-2. Tipton again came back strong and pulled it back to 4-3 with five minutes to go.
It came as some relief when Wolves finally secured all three points with Tom scoring his fourth of the season direct from a corner.
