On a glorious Sunday morning in Pelsall Wolves showed exactly why they are top of the league with two fine performances to take another 6 points and remain unbeaten.
Wolves’ first opposition was against a very well organised Bustleholme Baggies side who proved difficult to break down. Regardless of the tough test in front of them Wolves kept on probing with Ben, Callum & Ed linking up well across the midfield and Tom & Regan keeping a very tricky Bustlehole striker quiet at the back.
Neither side really created a good opportunity until Regan won a strong tackle in defence (as if there was ever another type of tackle from Regan!!!) which freed up Lily down the right and despite the Bustleholme defenders best attempt to rip her shirt from her back the golden girl was just too strong, shrugging off the challenge to finish with total composure.
Just a few minutes later an unfortunate injury to Thomas saw the introduction of battle tank Cameron at the back.
With Jordan now protected between the sticks by Regan & Cameron who could easily pass for nightclub bouncers, Wolves were in total control and soon added to their lead following some good pressing work down the right by Ben and Callum which saw the Bustleholme defender panic and pass across his own box. You can only imagine what was going through the defenders mind when he looked up and saw his pass land at the feet of Lily. I will allow readers to finish this paragraph how they wish but I think everyone knows it will be ending in 2-0!!!
The second half saw the introduction of Josh & Jake for Ed and the “under the weather Callum”. Again the strength in dept of Wolves’ squad shone through as Josh chased down a back pass and smashed the ball into the bottom left hand corner.
Wolves had largely limited Bustleholme to long range efforts which were easy pickings for an assured Jordan in the goal, so it came as some surprise that Wolves switched off for a few minutes and allowed Bustleholme back in the game with a simple tap in.
Wolves again showed their resilience and when Ben passed out wide to Jake a little bit of magic came from his feet to set up Josh who drilled the ball hard and low past the Bustleholme keeper and secure the points for Wolves.

Wolves’ second game was against a Perton side who had shown some recent improvement and deservedly took the lead with a good counter attack after six minutes. Shell shocked at falling behind Wolves pulled up their socks, rolled up their sleeves and set about the task in hand.
Despite having to leave Callum, Ben & Cameron on the bench Wolves showed their true grit and began to push for the equaliser with Ed & Lily linking up on several occasions to cause the Perton defenders a few problems. As the half wore on Wolves pressed and pressed and it was only a matter of time before the breakthrough came. Following a good interception by Ed the ball was played to Lily who struck a shot which the keeper spilled for Jake to smash home from fully thirty five inches and draw Wolves level.
The second half saw Wolves really turn the heat up as the introduction of Callum, Ben & Cameron added a touch of composure which had been missing in the first half. Just three minutes into the second half Josh won the ball in defence and set Lily free down the left. Breezing past three defenders Lily cut inside and calmly placed the ball into the bottom right hand corner to give Wolves the lead.
Wolves were now in control and pushed for a third which came two minutes later when Callum delivered a great corner for Josh to volley home his third of the day. Its fair to say that Regan, Cameron & Jordan could have spent the remainder of the game counting the blades of grass on their boots as Wolves went all out for goals. If goals was what Wolves needed then they knew how to get them as the fed the ball to Lily to score her 15th & 16th goals of the season (in just 10 games) and her second hat-trick of the season!!!
