It was an excellent start from the Lions. There was little more than a minute on the watch and the ball was in the opposition’s net. Ryan Wood got the goal to take him to the top of the Lions’ scoring chart with another low drilled shot into the net. Within no time at all the opposition ‘keeper had pulled of a double save, first from Ryan Wood and then from Ella Spiers to deny the Lions. The match started to become a bit sluggish with the ball bouncing around the midfield and 4 consecutive Lion’s throw ins as the game became stop-start. Owen Lloyd flashed an effort across the goal with no one to finish. Connor Byrne found himself in a crowded penalty area but just couldn’t get a shot away to test the ‘keeper. Then came the move of the match; Ritchie Sutton ran with the ball into the oppositions half, played a neat one-two with Ella Spiers who saw her shot flash just wide. Ritchie showing excellent vision as Ella continued her run. Ryan Wood hit a shot wide and then forced the ‘keeper to make a great save again. Joshua Guest held the line well and made some excellent tackles and George Bicknell again showed some good skill to run into the oppositions half only to be well tackled before he could play a pass. Another excellent performance and result. There were two man of the match awards: Connor Byrne and Joshua Guest. Well done to both!
