The All New Wyrley Colts U11’s started their pre-season campaign away to Brewood Juniors on Wednesday 20 July following weeks of preparation for new style football.
Colts travelled to Engleton Lane for their first ever competitive 9-a-side match against former Walsall League mini-soccer rivals in the lead up the new 2011/2012 season. Brewood had a lively start and lead 1-0 after 5 minutes, though the Wyrley massive came back fighting and levelled after new-boy Jamie D pounced on the edge of the box.
Wyrley saw 2 more hit home, with Wyrley newbies Dylan and Jake on target. Goal number 4 came after a JP free kick which saw Sammy lock kneecaps with a crunching tackle and a sneaky glancing deflection. Brewood struck back to creep back to 4-2, but Jake sealed he home team’s fate by slapping goal 5 past a battered, bruised but extremely brave goalkeeper.
Wyrley Colts new-boys worked seamlessly with our stalwarts who provide the back bone of the Wyrley Colts team – a new force to be reckoned with for 2011/12.
