Wyrley Juniors 3 vs 2 Jubilee
by Nigel Crook on Oct.13, 2013, under Match Reports, Men Sunday Team 14/15
Wyrley remain joint top of the table after again coming from 2 goals behind to secure a 3-2 win with the winner coming 5 minutes from time.
Wyrley were second best in the first 20 minutes & struggled to create any meaningful chances. Jubilee took the lead after Wyrley had been having the better of the play, when an accurate long ball was nodded into the corner of the net to see Jubilee take a 1-0 half time lead.
Half Time 0-1
The second half was all Wyrley, despite going a further goal behind when a long ball was picked up by the Jubilee striker who calmly went round the keeper to slot home. Wyrley had chances before and after the second goal. Tom Kneller shot narrowly wide and had an effort cleared off the line. The Jubilee keeper saved twice from Josh Bradley, one of which was a super tip over the bar. Mike Clayton shot straight at the keeper when trying to lob him after taking up an excellent position to receive a long ball from Dan “Beckham” Bourke.
The comeback started with 60 minutes gone, when Josh Rollason, with virtually his first touch after coming on as sub, played an excellently weighted pass for Josh Bradley to run onto and advance before knocking past the keeper. Wyrley equalised when Bourke got on the end of a Rollason cross to poke the ball past the keeper.
It was all Wyrley as Jubilee ran out of steam and they deservedly got the winner when Bourke went past the tiring full back, cut in and crossed for Bradley to side foot home. Andy Clayton handled the tame shots well that came his way to see Wyrley home to a fine spirited victory.
